Introduction to Balance sheets
The balance sheet is one of the three basic financial statements and is important to both financial modeling and accounting. A balance sheet can also be described as a snapshot of a company’s financial condition.
The balance sheet displays the company’s total assets, and how these assets are financed, through either debt or equity. It can also be referred to as a statement of net worth, or a statement of financial position.
It is used alongside other important financial statements such as the income statement and statement of cash flows in conducting fundamental analysis or calculating financial ratios. At the end of this course, students should be able to:
